Tendejon de la Calle

Welcome to Tendejon de La Calle, or “taste of the street,” and leave all your conceptions of a typical brick-and-mortar restaurant experience behind.

In true restaurant fashion, diners make reservations, sit at a table, and enjoy professional service for a world-class meal complete with wine. The difference is that with chef Mateo, the “restaurant” travels.

It might be in a romantic wine cave at one of Sonoma’s most exclusive wineries, or it could be in a rustic barn at a farm, hidden at the end of a country road. In spring and summer, Tendejon feasts are often held outdoors, in the splendor of Wine Country’s breathtaking natural settings.

But no matter the location, you can count on chef Mateo’s exquisite modern Yucatán cuisine, in changing menus based on ingredients rigorously sourced from within 50 miles of Sonoma.

Because a significant joy of eating in chef Mateo’s Yucatán homeland is the celebration of friends and family, Tendejon meals are casual, communal gatherings. Guests relax at long tables, choosing from a selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Depending on the location, wines are available for purchase, or on some occasions you can bring your own (and you’ll want to bring a little extra, to share with your new friends).

Another exciting part of Tendejon comes from watching the chef at work. Often, his “kitchen” is within view of the tables, as the Granados crew backs a truck up to the venue and rolls out a professional cooking range on wheels. Like a concert performance, the kitchen is set up for the dinner’s start time, and at the end of service, the crew breaks it all down and drives away.

Tendejon de La Calle pops up frequently, so please check back often to see where and when the next feast is planned, or sign up to receive email announcements of upcoming dinners.

Please note these events are cash or check only. Corkage applies to personal wines brought to the dinner. Children are welcome to join in the fun, but please leave pets at home.
